Hey there, fellow parents! In a world inundated with screens and distractions, it’s time we have an honest conversation about our role in raising our children. We’ve surrendered far too much of our parenting responsibilities to the digital age, assuming that others will instill the values we hold dear. But let’s face it – that’s a ludicrous thought. It’s high time we took the reins back and became the primary influencers in our children’s lives.
Think about it – it’s easier to flip on the TV than it is to engage in meaningful conversations with our kids. We’ve become accustomed to the convenience of technology raising our children for us. But can we truly trust that the world will teach them correct principles and values? The reality is that it only takes one generation for truth to fade away.
Remember, when you step through that door after a long day, you have a choice. You can either let the digital realm continue its grip on your child’s attention, or you can step in and be the guiding light they need. Strike up a conversation, ask them what they learned today – and be prepared for the unexpected. It might be that they were taught theories that go against your beliefs, like evolution. But guess what? You have the power to course correct. This is your chance to introduce them to your faith, to the concept of creation, and to help them understand the world from your perspective.
And let’s not forget the pressing issues of today – the ones that threaten to divide our society. When your children are exposed to ideologies like “woke culture” and told they must conform to certain pronouns, you have the power to intervene. You can let them know that they don’t have to bow to these pressures if they don’t align with their values. It’s time to turn the hearts of the children back to their parents and foster open conversations about these complex topics.
You are your child’s most influential teacher. Don’t let Satan, or any negative force for that matter, snatch away your opportunity to guide them. The attention they need and crave is your responsibility to provide. Remember, the enemy of your soul wants to influence them just as much as you do – if not more.
Take a page from the book of Deuteronomy, where it’s written: “And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV) This ancient wisdom remains as relevant as ever. Our children are looking up to us for guidance, understanding, and love.
So, let’s reclaim our role as parents in this digital age. Turn off those screens, engage in conversations, and most importantly, teach them about grace and the love of God. It’s not an easy path, but it’s a necessary one. And through your efforts, you’ll not only shape their understanding of the world but also create lasting bonds that will carry them through life’s challenges.
